Dr. Rashid Ahmad Muhammad Bin-Fahad was born in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 1964.
In February 2008 He was appointed Minister of Environment & Water; United Arab Emirates.
He holds the following qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Environmental Health), University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, 2001
- M.Sc. Environmental Science, University of the United Arab Emirates, 1994
- B. Sc., Chemical Engineering, Northeastern University, Boston, Mass, USA, 1989.
Work experience:
- May 2004 – Feb. 2008: Secretary-General, of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Standardization Organization (GSO), Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
- 2006- Board Vice-Chairman, Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA),
- 2003-2004: Deputy Director General, Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA). UAE.
- 1997-2003: Head, Food & Environment Laboratory, Dubai Municipality, Dubai, U.A.E.
- 1989-1997: Process Engineer, Dubai Municipality, Dubai, U.A.E.
- Member of the Higher Committee for the Zayed International Prize for the Environment, Dubai, UAE.
- Member of Board of Directors, ASTM International (Philadelphia, USA).
